Abundant Birthday began with a gift—a beautiful vase and flowers given to me for my birthday by my dear friend Susan. What began as a gesture of friendship became an exuberant celebration of color, gratitude and abundance.

Across two square canvases, an overflowing bouquet of brilliant reds, saturated pinks, deep blues and lush greens rises above a dramatically rendered vessel. Expressive line, layered acrylic, pastel and richly worked surfaces give the flowers an almost jewel-like quality, while the luminous vase below provides a bold graphic counterpoint.

The two canvases meet to create one continuous composition, with stems and foliage visually connecting the panels and allowing the bouquet to spill naturally into the vessel below.

At its heart, Abundant Birthday is about more than flowers. It is a celebration of friendship, generosity and those unexpected gestures that remind us how abundant life can be.
